This Privacy Policy explains how the Nederlands A1·A2 website (“the Service”) handles information when you use it.

• Account data (optional): If you sign in with Google or email, our authentication provider (Google Firebase Authentication) stores your email address and a user ID so we can save your progress.
• Learning progress: Your scores, completed steps and review words are stored in your browser (localStorage) and, if you are signed in, in Google Cloud Firestore linked to your account.
• Usage & device data: Standard technical data (browser type, language, approximate region) may be processed by our hosting and advertising providers.

2. Cookies & local storage

We use browser localStorage to remember your chosen language, level, voice settings and learning progress. These are essential for the app to work and are not used for tracking.

Third-party services we use (Google) may set cookies as described below.

3. Advertising (Google AdSense)

• This site may display ads served by Google AdSense.
• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

• Pronunciation audio — speech is generated locally in your browser (open-source Piper) or via an online text-to-speech request for the Dutch sentence text only.

5. Your choices

• You can clear your local progress at any time by clearing your browser storage.
• You can use the Service without signing in (local-only mode).
• If you signed in and want your account data deleted, contact us (see the Contact page).

6. Children

The Service is intended for general audiences learning Dutch and is not directed at children under 13.
